My mother said, "If just once more
I hear you slam that old screen door,
I'll tear out my hair! I'll dive in the stove!"
I gave it a bang and in she dove.

Do you carrot all for me?
My heart beets for you,
With your turnip nose
And your radish face,
You are a peach.
If we cantaloupe,
Lettuce marry;
Weed make a swell pear.

The dinner has come and went. After all the weeks and months of preparation, the event is over. We manage to sell 122 tables. 2 of the tables were VIP tables ie. for pastors.

The food was a huge disappointment and completely different from what we tried at the food tasting. The pongteh was burnt, the sambal belachan was too hot(my cousin's tongue was hanging out), the tai bak wasn't sweet enough, etc. etc. And, worse still, there was not enough waiters/waitresses. There was about 20 of them and they were rushing about like mad. They were so slow, that by the time the drama was due to start, the dinner had not finished yet. We still had to go ahead with the drama and I had to miss out 3 or 4 dishes. I'm pretty sure that this will be our last time having Peranakan food for such an event.

If the food was a disappointment, the drama certainly wasn't. It went on very well, despite the fact that certain parts of the dialogue wasn't there during the rehearsals. I don't think the audience noticed anything unusual even if we who were at the rehearsals did. I had to operate the computer during the whole event so I wasn't up the stage. One of The Star reporter was there. I saw a couple of pics in his blog. You can find them in the link here.

Another visitor(no one knows who) posted video clips of the event in YouTube.

This was my first time wearing a kebaya. B2, B3, and me borrowed them from someone. My mom bought hers. Serene's was the Singapore Airlines type.

I must say that the whole event was very fun and memorable.

A YouTube video of the worship in the anniversary. My dad is one of the worship leaders. There are 3 worship leaders. One of them is playing the guitar. My dad is the other worship leader. My mom is in the team of back-up singers.

 YAY!!!
Okay, I caught the American Idol fever a few days ago. I've been following the news but did not really get into it until a few days ago. To tell the truth, it was absolutely crazy. The suspense of waiting to hear who the winner is, is awful.
I could barely concentrate on my chinese class especially after my teacher's husband on American Idol. When I got back home, I immediately on the computer to check the results. It wasn't announced yet. I waited for about another 30 minutes or so and then tried again. I got a real shock when I saw that Kris Allen won. I had been hoping that he would win but after seeing poll after poll of Adam Lambert being predicted as a winner, I sort of lost hope that he would win. My only consolation was that DialIdol predicted that Kris would win and they have been pretty accurate since season 4 of American Idol. I literally scream when I saw the result. My mom had to close her ears, lol.
Looking back, it was actually quite an amazing journey for Kris. The judges were very biased(don't tell me you didn't notice that) and made it very clear by their remarks that Adam was their favorite. I can't understand why people like Adam. He doesn't have any talents(except maybe to scream) where else Kris can play a few different types of musical instruments. Adam needs a band to back him up for his performances but Kris+guitar/piano is enough to mesmerized you for the whole evening.
So, judges be gone, loser Adam, Kris Allen is the people's choice.

Kris Allen is my choice for American Idol.
When I read about Adam Lambert in a newspaper a newspaper article about the last 5, I though he must be one awful guy and, I wasn't disappointed.
He screams and takes out his tongue too much. Most hard rock songs have some screaming in them but I think Adam takes his overboard. Besides, it is quite disturbing and a distraction to see his tongue come out so often. :D
So right now, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that Kris will win American Idol.

This frumpy, dowdy-looking 47 year old woman sent shock-waves thru out the world wide audience of Britain's Got Talent when she opened her mouth and sang I Dreamed a Dream from the musical Les Miserables.
When I first saw Susan Boyle in the papers, my 1st thought was Oh, my! What a frumpy woman! Later my mum said that she wanted to watch Susan on YouTube. I was not very interested. I still went to see the video out of curiosity.
When I watched her performance .....Whew! ...... I was instantly amazed at her voice. She has such a good voice! Even hard-to-knock-down show judge Simon Cowell (yes, the same judge for American Idol) looked shocked. Everyone was. When Susan first walked up the stage and introduced herself, the audience was laughing and rolling their eyes. However when she started to sing the first few bars, they started cheering and clapping, and when she finished her song, she received a standing ovation.
I believe that if her talent had been discovered years ago, she would be singing in concerts, cutting records, and who knows what else. Nevertheless it is not too late, right?
Go, Susan Boyle! You got what it takes to win Britain's Got Talent.  I believe God's timing is perfect.

I'm so shock! I can't believe it! This cannot be true! What has happened to the world??!!
12-year-old kids are having boyfriends/girlfriends! I find this so hard to believe. I've seen secondary school student couples in Mahkota Parade before but to hear of 12 year olds having BF/GF is simply mind-boggling. I think I'm going through some kind of culture shock. No wonder the rate of teenage pregnancies and teens losing their virginity is so high. I mean, if you have a BF/GF when you're only 12 or 13 years old, chances are you won't be a virgin by the time you're married and chances are you would probably have changed BF/GF twice or even more than that. I don't understand why kids should have BF/GF. It's simply incomprehensible. Why can't they wait for another 6 years or so?

We come into this Holy place
To bring a sacrifice of praise
Bow down before You and seek Your face

We sing of the mighty things You've done
Cry out to You
"Let Your will be done"
Tell all the world You're the Holy One

Hear the shouts of praise
As they're rising up to You
Come and fill this place
As we bring glory to Your name

Chorus:
Open up the gates and let the
King of glory in
Fill this house with praises as we
Lift our hands and worship You
Open up the doors and let Your
Glory fill the earth
King of heaven we dance before Your throne

King of heaven come and
Take Your place
Dwell among us as we
Seek Your face

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas.  The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.

Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve.  Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.....Not sure what they were driven in
though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.

Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham.  Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain cheque.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast.  Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston.  Moses led the Israel Lights out of  Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people.  These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti.  Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbour's stuff.

Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humour thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies.  Joshua fought the battle of Genital and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David.  He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot.  He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines.  My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets.  One of
these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up
on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament.  Jesus is the star of The New.  He was born  in  Bethlehem  in a barn.  (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is a
lways saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter
of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.

Jesus also had twelve opossums.

The worst one was Judas Asparagus.  Judas was so evil that they named
a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man.  He healed many leopards and even preached to
some Germans on the Mount.

But the Democrats and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius
the Pilot.  Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus.  He just washed his hands
instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again.  He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum.  His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

A couple of days ago, for the first time, my family and I watched Fireproof. We have been wanting to watch this movie since it came out. Now, after watching it, I can't decide whether Facing the Giants or Fireproof is better. Lol. Fireproof has less 'action' than Facing the Giants but its story line is very interesting and good.
These was a kissing part in the movie. Some conservative Christians raised questions about it. How could a married actor(in this case, Kirk Cameron) kiss another woman. Well, the fact is, he did not. Kirk Cameron refused to kiss another woman. They got his wife to stand in for the kissing part. So actually, Kirk was kissing his real wife in the movie! I recall some SLers saying that Mrs. Cameron was very fortunate to have a husband like Kirk Cameron. I agree with them 100%. You don't often find a professional actor who would only kiss his wife.
Now, how about that Hollywood couples? Sometimes, I wonder, don't Hollywood actors and actresses feel jealous when they see their spouse kissing another man or woman? Very puzzling.... :D :) :p

I just send to The Star an article for the Your Say section. StarMag have been publishing some crazy articles about the 'goodness' of evolution and some equally crazy people were lambasting the creationists, so I shot of a letter for the opinion section. I hope it gets publish.
There was one medical student who said that he was the monkey's uncle and that the creationists can't back up creation with scientific evidence, so in my letter, I included facts from what I learned from EVOLUTION:The Grand Experiment. I love that book. It contains lots of evidence and facts I found useful during the debates in the Sonlight Forums.
Below is the letter I sent.:-

I would like to respond to the posts in The case against Mr Samuel (Your Say, Feb 22). Here are some scientific facts to consider before blindly supporting evolution.
Fact 1: Bird evolution has long been considered one of the three best fossil proofs for evolution. But, despite having more than 200,000 bird fossils, it still cannot be proved that birds evolved from dinosaurs. In fact, some evolution scientists even went as far as to fraudulently construct fossils to prove they are the missing link. Take the Confuciusornis specimen from China as an example. This "feathered dinosaur" fossil, according to evolution scientists, was further evidence that birds evolved from dinosaurs.  However, when a CT scan on it was conducted by Dr. Timothy Rowe, Professor of Biology and Geology at the University of Texas and Director of Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory of the Texas Memorial Museum, it was discovered that this Confuciusornis "fossil" was made out of separate pieces of rocks and that grout was used to assemble the fossil. Some fossil parts weren't original but were substituted to make the fossil look complete. There was a small fragment of jaw bone that did not belong to the Confuciusornis and a wing bone that was placed upside down. Later, another CT scan was conducted on another specimen, the Archaeoraptor liaoningensis. The results of the CT scan left Dr. Rowe speechless. 39 rock pieces did not belong and 26 fossil bones were from 4 other animals. Furthermore, these Chinese "feathered dinosaurs" have been discovered to be in the wrong age to be the ancestors of flying birds. They lived 25 million years after the first bird Archaeopteryx. This discovery proves that "feathered dinosaur" fossils are not the missing link between dinosaurs and the Archaeopteryx.
Fact 2: The theory of evolution states that life began spontaneously. 900 letters of DNA are needed for a single protein. If at least 20 proteins are needed for life to began, then 18,000 DNA letters would be needed. However, DNA, the genetic blueprint of all living organisms do not form spontaneously. Scientists have observed that only 20 letters of DNA can from spontaneously. After 20 letters have formed together, the DNA breaks apart. Then how can 18,000 DNA letters from spontaneously? It is impossible! And, not only are 20 DNA letters insufficient for life to begin, they are also deformed. They connect themselves to the wrong corners of sugar molecules that make up the strands of the DNA backbone and result in a non-spiraled DNA. DNA spiraling is important because it compacts and protects DNA. If DNA cannot form the proper length and shape under natural conditions, how could life start spontaneously as a single organism?
Fact 3: Proteins are necessary in life but do not form spontaneously. Typical proteins consist of hundreds of individual links of amino acids. Evolution scientists believe that life began in the ocean. But, if water prevents amino acid links from hooking together to form a protein how could life begin in the ocean spontaneously without proteins? Also, 20 proteins are needed for life to begin and if there are 300 amino acids in each of the protein chains, then 6,000 amino acids which have to be lined up in the correct order by chance! Even if a protein chain was only 100 amino acids long, billions of years would not be enough to form just one protein. A protein can't be formed by accident. Evolution scientists then advocated the theory that proteinoids, an unnatural congealing of amino acids that looks like a bunch of chain links welded together in a clump, came and acted like proteins before they were eventually converted to proteins. Other scientists, however, pointed out that a proteinoid has never been shown to convert into a protein, never possessed the ability to copy DNA, do not resemble proteins, and the dried and purified amino acids used to form proteinoids do not occur in nature.
These are a few of the many facts proving I'm no monkey's niece and that 'nothing made everything' is a scientific impossibility.
Creationist, Melaka
